Duties: THE OPPORTUNITY The Purchasing / Inventory Leader is responsible for the planning and direction of the National Purchasing and Inventory functions of the organization both at the Corporate and Branch level. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES The Purchasing / Inventory Leader will have primary managerial responsibility for the following activities: Directs the National operations of the Purchasing & Inventory areas.
Assures seamless availability of all products to support Ulines Operational plans.
Develops a supplier management program with key suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives.
Insures consolidation and leverage of all common purchases to obtain highly leveraged contracts.
Responsible for the management of the Purchasing & Inventory budgets.
Leads efforts to reduce and minimize the costs of all common materials and services.
Leads efforts in contract negotiations on costs, business terms and provisions.
Develops forecasts for future demand and places orders in a timely fashion based upon vendor lead-time.
Maintains and builds relationships with vendors (including plant visits).
Works with Merchandising to solve vendor issues, vendor changes and potential product additions.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the activities enumerated above.
